Nicole Atkins:
St. Thomas Aquinas 2005 graduate,
Nicole Atkins is the 2005 recipient of the EnCana High School Educational Bursary Program worth $10,000. Parents, Richard & Elaine, attribute Nicole's accomplishment to the staff at St. Thomas Aquinas in Provost. "We feel very fortunate to have our children attend such a terrific school as STA with excellent teachers who inspire students to achieve their full potential."

Nicole is attending the University of Alberta within the Faculty of Engineering Co-op Program. The EnCana Educational High School Bursary Program is renewable for up to four years for $2500 total payment each year. Candidates are those students whose grades are in good standing; demonstrate community involvement/leadership, and who have an interest in pursuing petroleum or industry-related studies. Balancing school life along with her many various activities attributed to Nicole's hard work and success. "Studying hard, having fun, and all around balance" amplified Nicole to her many successes including being past president of the Renaissance Program at STA. Her outstanding achievements led her to one of the finest schools in Canada and one of the top businesses in the world!

Alex Norris:
Alex Norris, Wainwright resident and 2005
graduate of Blessed Sacrament School should be very proud for her excellent achievement. Norris won a very prestigious scholarship from St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, the Highland Heart of Nova Scotia. She commends all her teachers for their dedication in providing her with the time, patience and interaction to excel at school, "The teachers' enthusiasm always made school enjoyable to me, and they were always there to help you," recalls Norris.

Norris one of two recipients in Canada will receive the President's Scholarship totaling $32,000 and is enrolled for the Bachelor of Administration Program. Her dedication not only in her studies but also along with her community involvement & numerous extra-curricular activities, are just a few integral part of the qualities and values honored at St. Francis Xavier: notable academic achievement, leadership and dedication in service to others.
Norris will begin her journey this week to Nova Scotia and when asked about her feelings on such a huge move her response was, "I'm excited and nervous. Also sad in leaving but it's a great opportunity for me to travel & be a part of that [Maritime] culture. It's good for me; it will help me develop my own sense of self."

Amanda Huxley:
Amanda Huxley, 2005 graduate of Blessed
Sacrament School in Wainwright has been awarded an Entrance Scholarship valued at $10,000 to attend Carleton University in Ottawa. This scholarship is offered to students entering Carleton with excellent academic standing. Amanda will receive $2500 per year for the next 4 years as an undergraduate while maintaining an A-Standing. Amanda credits her family Randy & Cheryl Huxley of Wainwright along with 2 brothers Jamie & Adam. Blessed Sacrament

teachers Mrs. Adelia Gaydosh & Mr. Tim Pochylko have been mentors to Amanda through her high school years. "They all have been phenomenal support for me." Huxley, now in Ottawa, plans to volunteer with the local radio station and become involved with the Engineers Without Borders; speaking locally to high school students about poverty and raising awareness. Journalism and/or news anchor is Amanda's forte, "It's possible, there are opportunities out there for everyone..."
